Dynamic Laser Safety Boundaries for Overhead and Gantry Cranes

Delta FieldLAS® laser projectors create highly visible virtual safety boundaries directly on the floor around overhead cranes, gantry cranes and suspended loads. The projected laser lines provide personnel with an immediate visual indication of the hazardous working area beneath and around the crane. Unlike painted floor markings or adhesive tape, the virtual safety zone can move together with the crane, keeping the warning boundary relevant as the equipment changes position.
This makes laser projection particularly suitable for dynamic industrial environments where fixed floor markings cannot accurately represent the current crane operating area.
Overhead and gantry cranes operate across large areas where the location of the hazard constantly changes. FieldLAS® projectors can be installed directly on the crane structure and configured to project lines onto the floor around the working area. As the crane travels, the projected lines travel with it. The result is a dynamic virtual safety zone that helps workers immediately recognize the area associated with crane movement and suspended-load operations.
Depending on the crane configuration, multiple laser projectors can be used to create parallel lines, side boundaries or a complete rectangular safety zone.

-IP67 industrial construction
-Easy integration with crane electrical systems
-Multiple projectors can create complete safety zones
Suspended loads represent a changing hazard because their position depends on the movement of the crane and trolley. Laser projection can provide an additional visual warning around the crane working area, helping personnel recognize when they are approaching an active lifting zone. Depending on the application and crane configuration, projected lines can indicate the sides of the operating corridor or create a larger virtual perimeter around the working area. The laser projection acts as a visual safety aid and can complement the facility's established crane safety procedures, warning systems and access controls.
For applications requiring more than a single warning line, several FieldLAS® projectors can be combined to create a complete virtual perimeter.
Typical configurations include:
-Single warning line
-Two parallel safety lines
-Side boundaries along the crane
-Front and rear warning boundaries
-Rectangular safety zones
Each projector can be individually positioned and adjusted according to the crane dimensions and required safety distance.
FieldLAS® systems are available with red or green laser projection, allowing the system to be adapted to different industrial environments and safety concepts. You can also select the optical configuration based on installation height, required line length, and desired line width. For higher installations and large crane structures, wide-angle optics allow long safety lines to be projected from a relatively compact industrial laser unit.

Paint and adhesive tape are useful for permanent walkways and fixed safety areas, but they cannot follow moving equipment. A laser safety boundary is projected directly onto the floor and can move together with the crane. This provides a flexible solution for dynamic hazards where the required warning position changes continuously during operation.
No repainting. No adhesive tape. No permanent floor modification.
The safety boundary is visible where it is needed – around the moving crane operating area.
